A few Hollo Pointe members got together for the 2021 Loveland, Colorado air show! In attendance were WreckingCrew, DarkStar, Sapper, and Franze, with WreckingCrew and his wife being a most excellent host.
A great time was had for all, with members arriving Friday evening for an excellent dinner provided by WreckingCrew and his wife. The group set out for the airshow on Saturday morning, being greeted with a massive crowd (the air show sold out of their Saturday tickets!) and a long line, but our heroes managed to dodge and evade the crowd (by standing in line) and found some decent seating on the grass. Several demonstration teams premiered throughout the day, with the Blue Angels being the highlight at the very end.
The exit from the show proved a challenge, with our impatient protagonists stuck in their most brutal opponent of the day: stuck traffic! A full hour passed before traffic finally began flowing away from the field, allowing a getaway before night fell. A premier dinner was once again provided to our now-sunburned crew by WreckingCrew’s wife and the day’s activities were analyzed in a rigorous after action review. Key takeaway: when provided with sunscreen, use it!
On the way home, Franze stopped to get a quick look at a lone F-14A, BuNo 160925, formerly of VF-124. A good end to a fun but long trip!
Overall, a great weekend of events at the cost of little DCS time!
