Overview
Delta Five is a cooperative PvE experience, designed to leverage night flying and long-range sorties. The primary objective is destruction of hidden SCUD vehicles scattered over the operations area. They can be found in one of two ways: tuning a radio to the appropriate ADF frequency or utilize the text readout that points to the closest detected unit, so as long as it is within range of the unit. The mission lasts from early morning to afternoon, with operations conducted primarily with moonlight. It features a randomization routine, varying the number of SCUDs between 4 to 16, with a bonus depot objective randomized between 3 locations. It also features a rudimentary air defense network that will scramble fighters and alert ADA to detected threats. In addition, it incorporates neutral civilian aerial and ground traffic which will have to be identified and avoided in order to prevent an overwhelming hostile response to the player’s side.
This mission will not be a short experience: targets can be as far as 300nmi from starting points and they are randomly activated with each playthrough. Night flying and refueling skills will be mandatory to any successful experience.
Objectives
The goal of the scenario is the location and destruction of at least half the SCUDs generated. As this number is varied from each playthrough, it can be as few as 2 or as many as 8. Some SCUDs will be stationary while some will be moving. The mission will not end until the absolute success objective is achieved: destruction of all SCUDs and the depot.
The mission is split into two sectors: east and west. The eastern sector is assigned to land based aircraft operating out of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, while the western sector is assigned to carrier based aircraft operating from the Persian Gulf. Support assets are divided between these two sectors.
Considerations
There are a number of neutral/civilian units operating in the mission; these include flights around the region, as well as vehicles traveling around the map. Care must be taken to positively identify these units and ensure they are hostile before engaging, as destroying civilian units can trigger an overwhelming hostile response in the region.
There are a number of P-19 search radars operating as part of the Red defense network; detection by these radars can result in alerting Red forces to the player’s aircraft. These can be avoided by flying low, clever use of cover, or by destroying them. But beware: destroying too many of these radars can result in Red forces scrambling to defend against an assumed attack! Strategically destroying radars to allow for ingress and egress through safe paths can be an effective strategy.
The SCUDs are broadcasting communications on a frequency of 230AM UHF; aircraft capable of utilizing the ADF feature on their radios will allow them to locate the SCUDs on this frequency. Alternatively, a text readout giving this information is given to players, if they are close enough to detect a SCUD.
This mission features an AI assistance option: if there are limited players present, you may utilize the F10 menu to request for allied flights to start and attempt to achieve the mission objectives. They will trigger the IADS the same as a player aircraft would, so caution must be exercised with this option. As they are also imperfect, they cannot achieve the objectives entirely on their own; depending on how the scenario plays out, they may be unable to achieve any objective at all! This option will be removed if any player climbs to 500ft before requesting it.
There is a weapon restriction script active in this mission: AGM-154C, AIM-9X, JDAM, SD-10, and LD-10 are prohibited from use, due to the date of the mission.

AI Flights
If so requested, Blue AI aircraft will spawn in both sectors: two attack aircraft and two escorts. The eastern sector tasks two F-15E with SCUD search and destroy, escorted by two F-16C Block 52s. The western sector tasks two F/A-18C Lot 20s with search and destroy, escorted by two F-14Bs.
Red forces will not scramble unless hostile forces are detected and are not on any form of loop or respawning mechanic.
