Overview
No Effort is a simple, easy mission intended to allow players to test and trial a variety of airframes available in DCS. It has several static ranges, a handful of moving targets, some ship targets, and some aerial targets. It is as basic as can be, with a few Red slots for adversarial training. It is built on a 12 hour timer.
It is recommended to install the Community A-4E and UH-60L mods for this mission.
Ranges
No Effort ’08 has 6 available ranges with varying options.
Range Alpha is a strike fighter target zone, which has options to generate static strike, electronic warfare, and moving targets. Targets are organized into blue and red associated vehicles.
Range Bravo is a tactical target zone, which has options to generate static and moving vehicle targets of both red and blue types.
Range Charlie is a WWII target zone, having WWII targets for both Axis and Allies (those available as free assets only).
Range Delta is a live fire modern tactical range with two sectors, each depicting a tactical objective. Each exercise can be executed once per run. Various options can be adjusted in each sector, such as enemy air defenses, enemy aircraft, friendly aircraft, and so on.
-SECTOR A
Elements of the 2nd Armored Division have taken control of the town of Achaluki in grid MP70. Heavy damage from the retreating 3rd Tank Brigade (Separate) has left most of the heavy armor platoons unable to press the attack. To keep the offense going, two platoons from the 1st Panzer Division have taken the lead on the attack, with support provided by IFVs from the 2nd Armored Division. These elements must break through OPFOR lines and secure the airfield at Mozdok.
Air support elements are two WAH-64s from No656 Squadron, two OH-58Ds from A Troop 3 Squadron 3 Armored Cavalry, two A-10Cs from the 25th FS, a flight of F-16s from the 147th FG, and two F-15Cs from the 433rd FS.
Intelligence reports indicate that the 3rd Tank BDE is reeling from BLUFOR’s assault, with older equipment in reserve. Expect this reserve to counter attack on the BLUFOR offensive. ADA elements remain heavy and will be considerable at lower altitudes.
-SECTOR B
A company from the 1st Infantry Division was advancing through grid MP01 when they encountered a massive buildup of modern armor from the 2nd Motor Rifle Division. After taking heavy damage, they retreated to Star Cherek and took up defensive positions by the bridge. Elements from the 1st ID are quickly advancing to reinforce the 3rd Company before the 2nd MRD attack overruns them. A defense must be rallied to allow a counterattack and secure the airfield at Nalchik.
Air support elements are two AH-64Ds from 1CAB, two A-10Cs from the 357th FS, a flight of F-16s from the 147th FG, and two F-15Cs from the 433rd FS.
3rd Company’s initial brush with the 2nd Motor Rifle Division indicated numerous modern armored and air defense elements, backed by modern self propelled howitzers. Intelligence believes that the weak point is in air support elements, which consists of older 2nd and 3rd line equipment.
Range Echo is a live fire range. This range encompasses exercise Rusty Echo ’08. One sector is available, simulating a WWII bomber raid and airfield takeover. Various parameters can be adjusted depending on desired goals for the exercise. Once the exercise starts, you may not change any further parameters.
Range Foxtrot is a live fire range. This is an ACM combat range, guns only. Test your mettle against a selected skill and aircraft generation in a gunzo beatdown brawl! If you have to chicken out, leave the range area and your opponent will not pursue.
Special
If so inclined, live dogfight practice may be conducted outside of the SAFE ZONE by certain opposing team slots.
Transport helicopters may request infantry teams from the nearest airfield, FARP, or FOB. These can then be picked up and deployed where desired. They can also be directed to re-embark with an F10 map marker utilizing the text “EMBARK_” followed by the group name.
Slots
No Effort ’08 has everything! It is continually updated to have at least 1 slot for every aircraft available within the game, outside of mods. The mission currently has support for the Community A-4E and UH-60L mods; it is designed to allow any player to join without having them installed, however.
